However, between 1986 and 2006, the Minerals and Mining Law (153/1986, PNDCL) was the basic law regulating the mining industry in Ghana. Although this law was regarded as ground-breaking in comparison to many regimes in sub-Saharan Africa, changes on the international mining scene necessitated its revision.
